This section focuses on the risks and opportunities that children and teenagers find online. It allows us to assess access, use, risks and the opportunities the Internet provides for teenagers. Specific focus is evidently placed on the use of hostile language. (research in Italian)
Politics
The “termometro” (thermometer) of hostile language in politics has also been used to monitor one of the most controversial areas for the use of hostile language. Through an opinion poll carried out for us by IPSOS, the hostility perceived by people in the language of politicians was analysed. Its aim was to create a real monitoring hub on the main issues and evolution of the election campaign, through reports and insights. (research in Italian)
Business and companies
In this section, you will find a study carried out by SWG for the ATS Parole Ostili on hate speech and fake news. The study, which involved citizens, employees, business executives, allows understanding the real level of interest and preoccupation perceived about this topic. An in-depth analysis was done on the use of hostile language in the workplace and companies. (research in Italian)

Thanks to a study carried out by Ipsos for Parole O_Stili and the Toniolo Institute, we provided an overview of the Italians’ behaviour regarding hate speech and flame wars. The verbal hostility online was perceived as a real social problem, especially among the youngest. A specific analysis was dedicated to the use of hostile language in the political sphere.(research in Italian)
Fake news and hate speech
In this section, you will find a study carried out by SWG for Parole O_Stili about “Hate and lies online” – The citizens’ perception two years later.
In the study, data about the sense of insecurity and vulnerability of Internet users were examined and it was found that the Internet was perceived as a hostile environment for a constructive dialogue. (research in Italian)
